  • Foundation in Basic Skills
  • Writing Development Program
  • Technology-Assisted Learning
  • Family Literacy Project
  • Book and Materials Collection
  • Pre-GED for Young Adults

Volunteer Development

Volunteer service can be an important vehicle for personal and professional growth. We seek adults who are active learners and comfortable with writing. Our project-based tutor training is unique. Trainees use the same small group collaborative process that students use. As the writing process and active learning are explored, volunteers find out how to implement these models in their teaching. For information on becoming a volunteer tutor, please call 718-832-3560, ext. 2, e-mail Icon: Email or attend a Literacy Volunteer Session.
