Find literary classics, contemporary and special interest fiction, poetry, drama and much more in the Language, Literature & Fiction division located on the first floor of the Central Library.
Browse this display of selected fiction titles as you enter the division. For the latest fiction titles check the New Books section of the Popular Library. Check for information on upcoming Book Discussions by searching the events calendar.
The fiction collections comprise the bulk of the division. Romance paperbacks are located near the front entrance. Fiction, which is shelved alphabetically by author, begins on the bookcases right after the Recommended Fiction shelves. Mystery and Science Fiction are shelved separately. Graphic Novels are displayed on a bookcase across from the Reference Desk. If you can not find a title you are looking for, please ask for assistance at the Reference Desk.
Explore our extensive collection of books on literary topics, publishing, drama, linguistics, poetry and journalism along with many other topics relating to literature and fiction. The call numbers that located here are 000, 400, and 800. Some portions of this collection is kept in storage. Please see a librarian for access to storage materials.
We offer recent titles and classic titles, both fiction and nonfiction, in a large print format.
The collection of reference works includes materials on literary criticism and literary history. Some portions of the Reference Collection are kept at the Reference Desk. Please ask for assistance if you can not find the title you are looking for.

Get information on writing skills and techniques for both the student and professional or research how to get your literary work published. This collection includes books on the writing process and industry directories. The latest editions of the literary publishing directories are kept at the reference desk. Please ask at the desk for assistance. Check for information on upcoming writing workshops by searching the events calendar.
All you need is your BPL library card in order to use the various databases in our Articles & Databases' Literature section. These databases will provide you with book reviews, literary criticism, literary history and additional information about books and authors. Select databases are only available for use in the Central Library.
